A bit about the game and developers

Rocket League was developed and published by Psyonix. I think it is quite interesting to say that Rocket League asked EA to be published by them back in 2011, but sadly EA have turned them down. I bet that they are feeling quite sad nowadays since the game is getting quite the hype. Psyonix made quite a few games but most of them weren't that popular. The latest one of them being Nosgoth, which was actually closed down back in May of 2016. Psyonix also contributed in making of some quite popular games such as Mass Effect 2, Unreal Tournament 2004, and 3, Gears of War and some other.

Gameplay

Rocket League is a fast paced car-based football (soccer for Americans.) game, in which the player commands a vehicle that has to score goals using a Football. (Yet again, soccer ball for those whom speak US English rather than UK English.) To be score the goal, the player needs to battle other players and work well with their team. The game allows players to use boost and speed up, as well as do different tricks, such as aerodynamic jumps, wall driving and cool side kicks. All of those need to be combined to achieve a win. The vehicle is quite hard to maneuver with, so I highly recommend using a gamepad.

After each round the players will unlock some cosmetics, that they can use to equip their vehicle with. There are numerous cosmetics, such as different stripes, lines, hats, antennas and boost colors. Those cosmetic items don't make one vehicle any better than the other one, it just makes more fun and variety to the game. Rocket League also has about 20 different vehicles and the number keeps on growing. Developers often add new vehicles to the game which need to be purchased as a DLC. The DLC's are also quite cheap, and I think that having those vehicles as a DLC content enables the game to grow even more. No matter which vehicle the player takes, all of them are the same. Ball hit boxes change with each car, but the speed and strength is always the same with each one. Rocket League is purely skill based, and that's what I absolutely love about the game.

The angle you hit the ball, the speed you do it at, if you are airborne or not, if the ball was falling or not before you hit it - all of those things matter in this game. Every action has to be calculated, and everything matters. One mistake or a good action can either lead to a lost game, or a won one. There are, of course, countless ways for you to engage the ball. You can either wait for it to be stationary on the floor, you can use jumping into your advantage, or you can drive up walls, and then try to hit the ball from there. And then, of course, there is this professional action that only very skilled players use, called "The acrobatics." Basically, you need to learn how to control your vehicle midair using nothing but a bit of a boost. It sounds rather easy, yes, but when you start to use it you find otu how hard it actually is.

Graphic and Audio.

Rocket League has a very beautiful graphics. The backgrounds, car models, the maps, all of it is quite beautiful. Including the decals on the vehicles. But, when it comes to audio of the game I am slightly let down. The game had been out for about two years now, and still it has no in game music. There is music in the menu, but while you are playing the game there is none but occasional song that you hear in the background - as if it were coming out from a building next door. You can hear people cheer at all times, and the vehicle sounds are very nice, but I would really like to see some actual songs inside of the game too.

Pros, cons and final grade.

Pros:

- Beautiful graphic

- Extremely fun gameplay

- Unique

- Lots of items that are quite easy to acquire.

Cons:

- Can get very repeatable after an hour or two, so it is quite hard to play it for a longer time in one go.

- No songs during the game

- Sometimes the servers can get quite laggy

Overall score: 8.5 / 10

I have to say that I am very sorry that it took me so long to make this post. I wanted to do it back in June but I was unable to, or just forgot. I wrote this review in honor of my best friend, and a gaming partner - Syphio. He passed away 7th of June 2016. Rocket League was one of his most favorite games. Syphio, you will be greatly missed.

I won't really get into much writing right now, but I would like to wish a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone. I've been going through some rough time right now so I wasn't active. But if I get the strength, I will start writing again.

Once again, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone! I wish you all the best.Wolfiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08198367491027121809noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3462554235446257534.post-38955960448239205272015-08-11T21:00:00.001+02:002015-08-11T21:00:39.437+02:00Game Review: BanishedHello Ladies and Gentlemen, I am back! I am probably not going to be as active as I used to be, due to a very busy real life, but I will still do my best to write as often as I can. With that said, I also started streaming every now and then. Usually it's Sunday around 6PM GMT+1 time zone. And it usually lasts until late evening, depending on how many people watch, or if I feel like streaming or not. I was also thinking of hosting my own blog, without Blogger. That would allow me to edit the blog exactly the way I want it to be, and it would give me a lot more freedom to move around it. Let's just say that I would like to advance from my current position of being a common game reviewer, to a more professional position. I would be very happy if you would tell me your opinion on that topic in the comment section below. With that small intro said, I am happy to welcome all of you back to MidnightWolfie's Reviews!

Game and the developers.
Banished has been developed by Shining Rock Software. I was very surprised when I learnt this, but Shining Rock Software is actually a team of.. Well, a single person. Just one guy programmed the game, added graphics to it, and composed music for it. I mean, talking about a talent! I wish I could find a bit more information about this, but sadly their website only said that. I will, though, try to get in contact with the guy and ask him for an interview. I think that will be rather interesting.

Gameplay.
Banished is a survival city-building game, in which you tell humans what to do in order to, well, survive. You need to focus on keeping your people alive. You do that by telling them what to build next. But to build that, they need materials. Now, in a non-modded version of the game materials are quite easy to get, but the gameplay is very hard and challenging. For now I'll talk about a non-modded version, and then later about the modded one. In a non-modded version you start up with, depending on your difficulty settings, some food and building materials. With those materials you need to focus on obtaining more food by hunting, fishing and plant growing. Of course, you also need to build some houses to let your people move in. All of that requires materials, so you need to order your people to chop some wood down. But trees don't grow themselves back, so you will need to plant some trees yourself. Then again, you don't have that many people to manage all of this, so now you have to wait few years until your children grow up and are able to work. But while you are waiting for your population to grow, a disease breaks out. So now you quickly build up a hospital but it's already too late, you lost 80% of your population. And boom, you lost the game. So let's re-start it! Now you know what to do, what not to do, and you play it slow and safe. And that's exactly how you get to enjoy this game even more.

Achievements play a big part in this game since they always give you something new to do. Obtaining them is very hard, and can prove to be a big challenge, so that makes things even more interesting. Some achievements are focused on your citizen number, others are focused on your animals, food, or stockpiles.
I wish that the developer let the player discover his / her own crops, plants and animals by pure accident in stead of just trading for it. Trading for it can sometime take a very long time, because you never know what you get. I am forced to dismiss 90% of my trades just because they never had any crops or animals, and I really didn't ever need anything else.

Now let's talk a little bit about modded version of the game. There are some very interesting mods which allow you to build over thirty ( 30 ) new buildings, collect and build many more materials, grow more crops and own more types of animals, trading goods, send people on adventure and so on and on. If you use the right mods it actually feels like you are playing a different game. There are of course some slower aging mods which allow the player to expand their cities much faster. But it all comes for a price. As soon as you have active mods, you do not get any achievements. So for achievement collectors this is a big problem. But then again if someone really wants those achievements I am sure that they will be more than happy to play the vanilla game, just like I did.

Graphic and Audio.
Banished has very beautiful, quite detailed graphic. In fact, I am deeply surprised by how beautiful it is knowing that just one person did all of it. The in game songs are also very nice, but they do tend to get rather annoying after about ten hours of repeating the loop. And sadly the songs don't really fit into the game. Sometimes the songs are very fast, while you do nothing other than plant crops. Or the song is very nice and calm, while your entire village is being torn apart by a tornado.

Pros, cons and final grade.
Pros:
- Amazing graphic.
- Amazing game play mechanic (Connections between buildings)
- Feeling of accomplishment when your people manage to live through 300 years.
- Mods.

Cons:
- Very slow starting faze.
- Can't find and tame animals, can't find different seeds, the player is forced to wait for the right trader.
- No way of changing the ground in any way.

Overall Score: 9 / 10.
Even though Cons seem to be rather annoying, the game always finds a good way to let you enjoy it and have a great time playing it.
I am very sorry for not writing earlier, but I have had a lot of things starting to happen. I have recently moved from one house to another, and I am about to move into a new house today or in two days.
With that said, I have also recently got a better job offer. I am stuck at this job which doesn't give me any free time for just two more days, and then things should start going better.
I haven't had much free time as I said above, and a lot of things were happening, but I did manage to squeeze a few games into my schedule. And I will write reviews about most of them. The games which you can expect reviews from are Resident Evil 6, Rocket League, The Elder Scrolls Online, Final Fantasy XIV, Planets cube (This is very, very early alpha!) and maybe few more games which I don't remember at the moment.

So as you can see, there is a lot of things that I plan to do, and I just hope that my motivation comes back fast. I would also really like to start streaming, but sadly they do not offer good upload rates around the area that I live in, so I'm having issues with that as well. But I will think of something!

I am very thankful for everyone who decided to stick with me through all this time, and I am very sorry for not writing earlier.
Have a great time,
I have got sad news to share with you. I won't be able to do reviews for a short time. A week or two. Sadly my mother board died and I need to get it replaced. It started about a week and a half ago when my first memory slot died. The PC didn't want to boot up and it took me three days to figure the issue out. I had to take out the memory from the non-working slot, and after that the PC (kind of) worked like a charm. Sadly though, yesterday it died again. And in my attempt to fix it, I burnt my motherboard.
So I won't get the new motherboard until Saturday or Monday, I am not sure when yet. And maybe, just maybe my Power Supply Unit died as well, so I would need to replace that as well. Let us hope that isn't the issue though.
Anyway, thank you all for being patient! And I am really sorry to keep you all waiting!Wolfiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08198367491027121809noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3462554235446257534.post-7459196729095985902015-01-26T10:12:00.000+01:002015-01-26T10:12:08.104+01:00Game Review: Fight The DragonHello Ladies and Gentlemen, today I'll be reviewing a community generated Hack'n'Slash RPG Fight The Dragon.

A bit about the game and developers.
Fight The Dragon has been developed and published by 3 Sprockets. Fight the dragon is a Hack'n'Slash RPG in which everyone can create their own dungeons. The game is all about going on an adventure by yourself or with your friends. There are few maps that were designed by the developers of the game, but all other content has been made by the community itself.

About Gameplay.
In Fight The Dragon you are given the choice to be one out of four playable classes. You can chose between Fighter, Fire Mage, Ice Mage and a Rogue. Fighter is a tank or a damage dealer, depending on your equipment and play style. Fire Mage is an Area of Effect damage deal, which is great to take down multiple enemies. Ice Mage is mainly a stunner, who focuses on freezing the enemies in place so the others can take them down fast and easy. Rogue is a damage dealer and a trap finder. He focuses on poisoning the enemies to deal extra damage, setting up traps and dismantling traps in game.

The game futures many different weapons and armors. All the classes can wear all the armors, but they are limited with the weapons. Sword, axe, club and a shield may be wielded by any class. Fighter specific weapons are greatswords, spears, greathammers and a throwing hatchet. Wizard specific weapons are crystal, staffs, wands and a magic tome. And finally, rogue's specific class weapons are daggers, shortswords, crossbow and shurikens. Inside of an adventure the loot is separated, meaning that everyone gets their own loot. That's a great thing because no one needs to fight about what belongs to who. Sadly there is no trade system in the game, but a player can just drop the icons he or she does not want on the ground, and someone else can pick them up in stead.

As I said earlier, most of the dungeons in this game are made by players. Fight The Dragon has an amazing and very mature community, and most of the people are creating their own maps. Some people make arena maps, some of them just build nice little towns, while others, more serious people, make their own little campaign. I think that's very amazing since those people just keep making the game expand more and more. It kind of feels as if it's just filled up with free DLC's everywhere!

The game also supports Steam Workshop, which allows you to have an even bigger character customization. Imagine running around in a Batman costume! Yes, of course I did that. Who wouldn't? There are new items inside of the workshop quite often, but not as often as the new maps.

Fight The Dragon also has a specific type of loot called "Dragon Scrolls". The player can use that scrolls in single player to fight a dragon. Sadly, the dragon is so hard to kill that I did not even manage to get close to it yet. He's got a million HP and deals too much damage. He also drops specific items which a player can obtain from a dragon and dragon alone, the dragon rings. I have tried to find out what happens once the player kills the dragon by browsing the internet a little bit, but I didn't find anything related to it, except that "it's not worth the hassle".

Graphic and Audio.
The game is pretty blocky, but the developers still made it look quite pretty. Awesome thing about that is that the game runs on quite old and weak computers. Songs in the game are very nice, and I really enjoyed having them as my background music, but the weapon sounds could use a bit of a tun up. Shurikens, throwing hatchets and the crossbow all have the same sound, and I have found that very annoying.

Pros, cons and final grade.
Pros:
- Community based dungeons / campaigns.
- Steam Workshop support.
- Many different weapons and armors.
- Ability to create your own dungeons and campaigns with a very simple in game creation tool.

Cons:
- Very slow character progression.
- The dragon can't be fought with friends.
- No ability to make custom weapons and armors.

Final grade: 7.5/10

Extra information: If you are interested in a very cool co-op experience in which you can rank up your character and make your own dungeons, this game is definitely for you.

As you have seen, even though I have returned I still didn't post more than just one review. Main reason to that is simply because I have no time to play too many games. I want to review Fight The Dragon, but I feel like I just didn't learn enough of things about it yet. And therefore I stopped writing it multiple times.
But what I have been doing is, I have started making more video gameplays. Most of the people prefer to watch a video in stead of read a review, so I want to try and reach to that audience as well. Don't get me wrong, I will still write all the reviews, but I'm just trying to reach out to more people.

Very soon there will be a giveaway of EvE Online coming up, so make sure to stick around!
Also feel free to leave any type of feedback to the blog. I love hearing what other people think I should change, improve or leave out.
Thank you all for reading!
P.S. A new review is definitely going to happen within the next four to five days! Definitely!Wolfiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08198367491027121809noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3462554235446257534.post-29432425628705619462015-01-04T11:05:00.001+01:002015-01-04T11:05:12.257+01:00Game Review: Planetary AnnihilationHello Ladies and Gentleman! To start off, I want to wish you all a very Happy New Year! I hope that everyone will have better year than any previous one and that you will be able to accomplish everything that you wanted to accomplish thus far. With that said, I decided that as of 2015 I will stop being lazy! And the best way to do that is to start writing reviews again. And for my first review I chose Planetary Annihilation. I have played quite a few hours of this game and I feel more than confident of reviewing it. So here we go!

A bit about the game and developers.
Planetary Annihilation has been developed and published by Uber Entertainment. They are quite a new company, but they have a very experienced team. Their only other PC game is Super Monday Night Combat, which is a completely different game from Planetary Annihilation. Planetary Annihilation is a Real Time Strategy with just one simple game. Complete annihilation of your enemy!

About Gameplay.
Planetary Annihilation is a very fast paced RTS. As said before, your only goal in this game is to kill the enemy commander, pretty which is pretty much the same thing like in Supreme Commander series. And once again, just like in Supreme Commander series, you start off with a big commander who starts building up a colony. But this game comes with a fantastic twist! You can get off from the planet on which you are currently, and actually move to different asteroids or planets if there are any. So the map in this game can be quite large, and even though the game is very fast paced few hours can pass before you finish the round. And since you can populate many planets, you can also control them. You can smash one planet into another and take the enemy down by surprise. That happened to me twice already.

Until recently this game was only playable in multi player. But recently Uber Entertainment has added single player. Single player has two game types. Galactic war or Skirmish against AI. In skirmish you battle only one round. You can set up how many planets will there be, resources and players (AI's.). Galactic war is something like a campaign. You start off on one solar system, and your goal is to conquer the entire galaxy. So you jump from one system to another. Some of them have enemies, others do not. Each solar system has an "upgrade" which you use. At first you start off with just three upgrade slots, but as you move through the game you manage to unlock more of them. They aren't exactly upgrades since they actually allow you to build more units. So, without the unlocks you are forced to only use tanks. As you progress (and get lucky!) you unlock air vehicles, orbital vehicles, naval and so on and on. Maybe you even manage to get a NPC commander to help you out! I was lucky enough to get another commander Silva, and he helped me a lot. In fact, I won most of my games thanks to him!

Multiplayer is much different than the singleplayer experience, but that is to be expected. Unlike in single player where bots do their best to get higher tier bots, tanks and aircraft, in multiplayer people use many different strategies and even kill each other within the first two to five minutes of the game! Playing a game with 8 players is very fun but can also get slow and boring once you get rid of most commanders since you can't find the rest of them on so large map. Multiplayer also lets you chose if you want to have shared armies or not. If they are shared you can control each other's units, including the commander. But of course, just like any other game sometimes you encounter bugs. For example in my previous game my teammate's commander couldn't build anything. But that's a minor bug which was fixed as soon as we remade the round.

Graphic and Audio.
Graphic of this game is filled up with pixels and tiny boxes. But that's mainly how this game is supposed to be. This game is voxel based strategy, and I have to tell you that the developers did an amazing job. Even though the game looks quite simple, it's still beautiful. The universe, the planets, the water, trees and vehicles, everything looks very beautiful. The audio in this game is exactly what it should be. Background music. You don't even realize it's there unless you actually focus on it, and it just fits in perfectly as you play. So great job on the music choice!

Pros, cons and final grade.
Pros:
- Large maps.
- Beautiful graphic.
- Fun single player.
- Extremely fun multiplayer.
- A lot of different units.

Cons:
- Hard learning curve. No tutorial.
- Multiplayer games can get long and boring since the map is too big.
- Starting your first Galactic war campaign feels harsh and unfair.

Final grade: 8.5 / 10

Extra information: If you are a fan of Supreme Commander, or Total Annihilation games, you will love this game. It's large, fast paced and almost no experience is the same. Great game indeed!

I haven't been writing for a long, long while, but I have a good excuse for it! On my last post I said that I can't play anymore, due to June being over at my place. Well, about a month later we went into her country, Czech Republic. Luckily things were better than I have hoped for. I managed to get a job, and I have managed to stay in Czech. I am currently living with June. I couldn't be happier!
But there's one slightly bad thing about that. I do not have my gaming PC here. Therefore, I can't do almost any gaming. I do have my laptop here but he's way too outdated for any new games. I even have slight lag issues in Hammerwatch!

I think I'll be mailing my PC from Croatia to Czech within few months. And once I do that, I'll start writing again!
I'm really sorry for letting you know so late, but I rarely have any free time. And when I do, i tend to spend it with June in stead of just being on PC all the time.
Thank you all for being faithful readers!
I just wanted to apologize for not writing anything in the past month. It's that time of the year again when June and I are together, therefore I do not have much time for gaming. Or when I do, we usually play the games which we've played for a long while.

I might, though, write a review of Landmark Beta, Battlefield Hardline beta, Slender: The Arrival and what ever else we play together. Though, do not have too big hopes.
Thank you all for following me through my reviews!

I also started making a lot more videos. June gave me an early birthday present and it was a new hard disk. Exactly a thing that I needed to be able to start recording. So my two videos are already up, and I am still preparing some of them for you!

A bit about the game and developers.
Dead Island: Riptide has been published by Techland, and Published by Deep Silver. Both Techland and Deep Silver are quite big companies with many known titles. Techland are developers of Call of Juarez franchise, Dead Island franchise, Nail'd and so on and on. Deep Silvers are also publishers Nail'd, Dead Island franchise, Risen franchise, Metro franchise and so on and on.

About Gameplay.
Dead Island: Riptide is an action role-playing survival horror video game. The RPG element of the game are levels, weapon upgrades and character choosing. Survival horror element is the fact that there are millions of zombies all around you, and, well, you want to survive. Now, on the other hand, Dead Island Riptide is all about the story. A very big, fun and engaging story. Story which makes you feel big and strong, but at then end it completely twists everything. If you loved the story of the original Dead Island like I did, you will love the sequel just as much or possibly even more!

Dead Island: Riptide can be played as a single player game, but is actually best enjoyed in a co-op. Unlike the first game, Riptide allows you to play with four friends. So five players all together. The game also implements a new character Sargent John Morgan who specializes in hand to hand combat. If he is skilled correctly he could kill zombies in one hit using nothing more than his bare hands. The way that real men fight zombies. Riptide also adds few new weapons into the game such as Chinese war sword, new knives, new guns.

There are various different mods in Dead Island Riptide that can turn the game in your favor if used correctly, or could make things hard for you if used the wrong way. There are single target mods and Area of Effect (AoE) mods. Both of those types are awesome due to the extra damage that you make to the enemies, but you also need to watch your step since you can hurt yourself too. Friendly fire is disabled in Dead Island Riptide, but fire, venom and electricity damage from your mods can also damage friendlies. That has no sense but it is how it is.

Riptide also shows us few new vehicles. Well, only two to be more exact. Players can now drive a five seat vehicle which looks quite nice, and can also drive a small boat. Car controls feel a bit slow, but after a while the player gets used to them. Boat on the other hand feels much better, but the player is in constant danger of being attacked, therefore boat rides feel much more unconformable than anything else.

Graphic and Audio.
Graphic of Dead Island Riptide was a little bit disappointing to me. Only because I barely saw any difference from the first game. Don't get me wrong, the graphic is amazing and beautiful, it just looks the same like the first game. Audio is quite quiet and empty most of the time. That's sometimes good since you can expect zombies and make a plan, but when you're playing alone it feels rather empty and sad.

Pros, cons and final grade.
Pros:
- Awesome story.
- Nice graphic.
- Nice variety of weapons.
- Five player co-op experience.
- Quite a long story.

Cons:
- Friendly fire is not implemented into the game, and yet Modification's damages can hurt your friends and the player.
- Ammo is easy to come by, guns are not.

Final grade: 8.5 / 10

Extra Info: I'm a big zombie games fan. I've liked zombies ever since I was a little boy. Dead Island was one of the first actual Zombie games (that was not a flash game) and it was a wonderful sight on the market. I really enjoyed playing Dead Island and Dead Island Riptide, and I think that anyone who likes a good story in a zombie apocalypse setting should play them. I would also like to say a big thank you to my aunt Tea, to my best friend Knoxi and to my beloved June for playing and beating the game with me! The game can be bought right here.Wolfiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08198367491027121809noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3462554235446257534.post-90974702889111931542014-05-28T09:26:00.003+02:002014-06-01T15:30:46.856+02:00Space Corp TycoonHello Ladies and Gentlemen! Before I start I'd like to say that this is not a review. I was contacted by the developer of this game who asked me to promote the game on my blog. Which I gladly did.
Space Corp Tycoon is still in Early Alpha. In a VERY early alpha. The current build looks as if It was just here to show the artwork. But the lone developer of this game has a very nice ideas for it in the future. He wants to build a lot of different planets, he wants to add space battles as well as ground battles, player owned stations and so on and on. The game has quite a few nice ideas so far.
The game was already Greenlight, so expect to see it on Steam almost as soon as it gets out.

The developer of the game also gave me two giveaway copies of Space Corp Tycoon. Joining the giveaway is quite easy. The only thing I want from you is to follow me on Facebook, Possibly on Google + if you use one. Those who follow me on Google + and Facebook will get an extra chance to win! I also want you to comment on this post and tell me why should YOU be the one to win this.

The giveaway will end when this countdown goes down. Few hours after that I will pronounce the winners!

But there will also be a giveaway!Hello there Ladies and Gentlemen.
I'm sorry to tell you, but I have caught a cold. And It's making me miserable for the past few days. Therefore, I am really in no mood to write a review just yet.
The review should be here within the next few days, and with it I will make a giveaway for Space Corp Tycoon.
Thank you all for reading!

Wolfiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08198367491027121809noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3462554235446257534.post-87152440754795763222014-05-11T22:54:00.001+02:002014-05-13T16:02:23.337+02:00Game Review: State of DecayHello Ladies and Gentlemen, today I'll be doing a review of a single player zombie survival game called State of Decay!

A bit about the game and developers.
State of Decay has been published by Microsoft Studios and developed by Undead Labs. Undead Labs are rather new indie developers, since State of Decay is their first game. State of Decay is yet another zombie survival game, but this one actually has a story that you follow through.

About Gameplay.
State of Decay came out as a console exclusive game at beginning. But after a while, Undead Labs decided to also move the game over to the PC. And I'll tell you, they did a pretty decent job! I did see quite a few flaws, but most of it was awesome.

To start off, I'll say that State of Decay is a single player zombie survival game. In that game you have a group of people that you need to take care of. You can ask the people to go with you on scavenges and missions, or you can tell them to do some other stuff in stead such as build something in your base, or send them on a scavenge mission without you so that you don't need to do it. Different people have different skills, so some people are better at one thing while others are better at different things. I, honestly, didn't see that those skills had much of an impact on my gameplay, unless it was health or stamina wise. Each of those NPC's has a standing towards you. If the standing is friend then you can play as that character in stead of the main one. In case that the standing is still not Friend, then you need to do missions that will benefit him / her. Death in this game is very unforgiving, so having more than just one Friend characters is a must. After all, you most likely will end up dead!

Second thing I want to talk about are vehicles and bases. There is limited number of vehicles in State of Decay. That means that in case you brake every car, you will have to run across the whole map. Luckily there are enough cars for that to be - almost - impossible to do. The vehicles feel amazing when you drive them, and I think that developers really put a lot of work into that. I really enjoyed driving cars and just didn't want to stop it. There is also a hideout or "base" system in the game. Players start off in a church, but after a while they have an ability to chose a different home. There are about eight total houses that players can chose from. Each have their own benefits. Some houses have more building areas, while the others have better defense against zombies. I, of course, took the one with largest amount of building areas. Also some buildings allow you to build some things which others do not allow you to do that, and I saw that as a very cool feature.

Player can also set up different outposts around the town. Honestly, I saw no need for those unless you need some immediate shop or just want an achievement. Maybe I was just using them wrong.
There are many different weapons in the game. Both ranged and melee weapons. I, as a player, chose more melee weapons than ranged weapons most of the time. Mainly since I was just a horrible shooter so the guns were quite useless to me. Melee weapons seemed very powerful and useful. Though, unlike in other games, sword type weapons were much worse than blunt like weapons. So I highly suggest - keep blunt weapons, throw away your knives!

The game's story is very good. It really gets your attention and I kept wanting to do it as a player, but sadly they make you wait between main missions. In my opinion, that's wrong. I was forced to do off story missions just because main mission wanted to take it's place like two or three in game days later.

Graphic and Audio.
The game's visuals are awesome! Colors are awesome, shadows are maybe a little bit too complex, the sky is detailed. And there's another thing. The stars actually shine! There are few, but not many games in which stars are actually shining, so this was a huge plus to me. The music in the game is amazing. One of the songs reminds me of my favorite Mass Effect 3 soundtracks. and That song fully fits into a zombie survival game. I love it!

Pros, cons and final grade.
Pros:
- Big world to discover.
- Vehicles feel amazing.
- Story is very good!
- Many different cars and weapons.

Cons:
- Sometimes controls get messed up.
- Houses have limited building area.
- NPC's are rather useless.
- No Co-Op / multiplayer.

Final Grade: 8/10

Extra info: I really enjoyed playing State of Decay! It's a really awesome, story based survival game. But when ever I play the game, the "Oh my God, I need Co-Op!" just screams over and over again. Hopefully the developers are thinking about that! The game can be purchased right here.Wolfiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08198367491027121809noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3462554235446257534.post-69416243921572317962014-05-01T18:56:00.002+02:002014-05-01T19:02:59.743+02:00Game Review: Goat SimulatorHello Ladies and Gentlemen!
Today I'll review one simulator. Before we start, I want to tell you that my girlfriend June has goats. And I can tell you that this simulator is very accurate. If goats were able to do all this, I guarantee they would!

A bit about the game and developers.
Goat Simulator has been developed by Coffee Stain Studios. Coffee Stain Studios are a well known developing and publishing company. They are publishing games like Sanctum, Sanctum 2, and few more.

About Gameplay.
In Goat Simulator you are a goat. But a.. Special goat. And by that I do not mean a window licking special goat. I mean the goat which has superpowers. The goat which uses the power of her tongue to kill people, lick fruit, lick random objects, lick a car and sticks herself to it, and of course, drag other dead goats around.

Some people take this game too seriously. I've heard people complain about this game not being fun, addicting, not being an actual game and so on and on. But you see, this game is actually a game that you get if you want to just play something for a short while. Something that will make you laugh and not regret the money you spent on it. Something that is actually very fun. I mean, who wouldn't want to become a demonic goat queen with a jet pack on your back? Come on, think about it. You do. Admit it. Well this game lets you do that!

Not only that, but in Goat Simulator you can actually get into some houses and trash things around. You can get a baseball gun (I'm sorry but I really don't know how is that thing called) and shoot people with it. You could even lick a car and drive around. Or maybe you want to be a nice goat and just roam around and explore? Sure, you can do that. You can walk around the land, play Flappy Goat, jump on trampoline, visit a goat hedge or join a crowd which wants to stop a penis shaped food.

Controls are very simple in this game. There are very few keys in the game, and every loading screen tells you which buttons to use to do what. There is no need for actual tutorial in Goat Simulator. Coffee Stain Studios has announced that Goat Simulator will have multiplayer so I expect that to be very fun too. They announced a local split screen multiplayer, so I am having my doubts, but we will see where that leads to.

Graphic and Audio.
This game has surprised me. The graphic level of this game is amazing. The detail that was put into grass, trees, goats, the tongue and pretty much everything in this game is just amazing. I was very impressed! Audio in the game gets very repeatable but it is still quite fun to listen to, so I never had the urge to actually turn it off.

Pros, cons and final grade.
Pros:
- You are a goat.
- Jet pack.
- Game allows mods.
- Ability to become a Demonic Goat Queen with a Jet Pack.
- Free upcoming multiplayer.
- Cheap.

Cons:
- The player loses interests after about six hours of game play.
- Very small map.

Final Grade: 8/10

As most of you know, I have been playing EvE Online ever since May of last year. I am currently flying with a PvP Corporation called 4S. We are a member of GoonSwarm Alliance. Well, you see, GoonSwarm has a small "Event" they are doing for the past three years.
On this event Goon members go into high traffic solar system called Jita. There are many people who fly huge ships which cost a massive fortune there. Well, What Goons do is find people in that system who are flying those ships, and them murder them within 10 seconds (literally!).
That event is called Burn Jita. This was my very first Burn Jita event. And I loved it! I even made a video about it, and I'd be very happy if you take a look at it. I really hope you'll enjoy, and if you have any questions, please don't be afraid to ask!

Today I will write a review about a first person tower defense game called Sanctum 2.

A bit about the game and developers.
Sanctum 2 is a sequel to a quite famous first person tower defense game called Sanctum. Both games have been developed and published by a well known company called Coffee Stain Studios. They stand behind many well known titles. The most recent one is Goat Simulator. Yes, they made Goat Simulator.

About Gameplay.
Sanctum 2 is a first person shooter game in which the player has the ability to make a tower maze that will help him defend the core from a lot of numerous enemies. There are a lot of different weapons, towers and enemies in Sanctum 2, every one of them having different strengths and weaknesses. And to be able to experience the game fully, the player should have full party of people with each of them having a different character. I feel the question "why?" coming up next, so I'll just answer it to you now. Each character has his / her own weapon. One has shotgun, one has sniper, one has rocket launcher, one riffle and the newest character has a crossbow. Shotgun character is good against bigger enemies that come running at him. Rocket launcher is good versus swarms of enemies since his damage does not only go on one enemy. Sniper and Crossbow characters are best versus game bosses, since they deal largest amount of damage in one hit. And riffle is good versus pretty much anything, but of course it has smallest damage rate.

Each character can have a secondary weapon. There are many various secondary weapons so the player can fit exactly what they want to fit. There are also different perks in this game, so even those help out. So you could even turn slow, but powerful weapons into very fast, even more powerful weapons. Of course, there are many towers that help you in your victory. There are those towers that are fast, but deal small amount of damage, and then there are those that are slow and yet deal massive amount of damage. Each tower is good for something, and it's up to player to find out what is the best way to make the towers fit in with their game style. There are also a lot of different types of enemies. Some are small, numerous and fast, while others are big, slow and hard to kill.

Unlike the first game, Sanctum 2 feels a bit more open. It feels like you have more space to move, more space to build and more possibilities. On the other hand, this game also introduced leveling system. Each level unlocks different weapons, perks or towers to the player. Leveling is quite easy at start, but that changes later on. And the leveling system actually gives a replay value to the game, since you can always come back to old maps and redo them with your newly unlocked weapons, towers and perks.

Unlike in many other games, DLC's in this game are actually quite good. I am not a fan of DLC's in general so I still think that they are overpriced, but for the amount of money you put into them you get quite a few things back. With the DLC's you get tones of new maps, new characters and quite a few weapons. So the Complete Collection is a pure go from my end.

Graphic and Audio.
Honestly, I was a bit disappointed by the graphic. It does look prettier and there are more details than in the first one, but I just feel like there's many more things that the developers could do to make the game prettier. Audio on the other hand is amazing, and I just enjoyed listening to every song or background sound that the developers put into the game.

Pros, cons and final grade.
Pros:
- Many different maps.
- Characters to chose from.
- DLC's that give an actual new content.
- Various different unlockables.

Cons:
- No ability to change primary weapon until final level.
- Sometimes towers feel useless.

Final Grade: 7.5/10

Extra info: If you are a fan of first person shooters, or maybe tower defense games, then this game is for you. You just can't go wrong with Sanctum 2. You can buy Sanctum 2 over Steam.

Today I'm writing a review of a third person, extremely fun shooter called Saints Row IV!

A bit about the game and developers.
Saints Row 4 has been developed by Volition and published by Deep Silver. Both the developer and publisher are known for a lot of different games but probably the most known games from Volition are Saints Row franchise and Red Faction franchise. Saints Row IV is Deep Silver's first Saints Row game, but their previous well known titles are Dead Island franchise, X franchise, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and so on and on. They are publishing many great games.

About Gameplay.
Saints Row IV is a very easy game to master. The controls are pretty much the same as in almost any other third person shooter game. But there is a small plot twist. Even though you can enter vehicles, customize them and so on and on, there is really no need for it. Because in Saints Row IV you have super powers. That's right, super powers. You can sprint faster than any car can drive, you can get into a maximum high faster than any airplane or helicopter can and you can even use your telepathy power to rise enemies and throw them onto others.

Saints Row IV kind of continues the story where the previous games have stopped. But just kind of. The story is drastically changed. Luckily, as you play the game you find out one amazing surprise. Something that just has to make every Saints Row fan smile. I can't write what it is because it is a MASSIVE spoiler, but I can tell you that if you love Saints Row franchise you will love the surprise. In Saints Row IV the Earth is being attacked by aliens. They look very cuddly and nice, but in fact they are true killers. And Saints Row are the only people who can save the humanity from them. Since the aliens actually want to torture you before killing you, they place you inside of a virtual reality. Through the virtual reality you collect some sort of "hacks" which give you special powers. At first you start out with just sprint and high jump, but as you progress you also get some special attack powers like a fire bolt, ice bolt, telepathy, stomp and a strength buff which also sets everyone on fire when you run past them. You can also upgrade every power and make it even more powerful. I have only been upgrading my sprint and telepathy. The sprint has one special ability which allows you to a act like a tornado. You push everything away from you when you run past them. It's very fun!

The developer also put a handful of new weapons into the game. New alien guns. And with the guns being added, the developer also added some new alien vehicles such as cars and jets. Even a power suit! Something like a Mech. And it's very fun to drive it around and destroy stuff. But, you know, since you have all those super powers it's also useless to grab an alien car and bother customizing it since you will almost never use it anyway. Same goes with the jet.

On the side note.. Sometimes the super powers just get in the way of stuff. You are almost unable to do any customization because you keep being hunted by virtual police since you killed someone while sprinting. Also the guns sometimes seem just too weak. Even after upgrading them they still didn't do enough damage to kill aliens with the first hit.

Graphic and Audio.
Graphically the game has disappointed me. I mean the graphic looks exactly the same like Saints Row The Third. When you enter the game everything is so the same like Saints Row The Third that it feels as if you are just playing another too expensive DLC with a lot of extra DLC's that come with it. Audio on the other hand was pretty good. A bit too much of Dubstep and too little rock for my taste, but who likes Dubstep will like the audio in the game.

Pros, cons and final grade.
Pros:
- Saints Row game.
- Very funny.
- Awesome surprise.
- Alien jets.
- Mech!!
- Co op is extremely fun.

Cons:
- All type of vehicles are useless.
- Weapons seem to be a bit too weak.
- The story length is way too short.

Final grade: 8/10

Extra info: I am a huge Saints Row fan. I'd chose Saints Row over any GTA game or any game of that type, because Saints Row games are here to be fun and funny. So if you want something realistic or serious like GTA, look away. Saints Row is a game where you run around with a giant tentacle and hit people with it. The game can be bought here.Wolfiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08198367491027121809noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3462554235446257534.post-6842682186739364792014-04-03T01:00:00.001+02:002014-04-03T01:02:08.834+02:00Game review: Tales of Maj'EyalHello Ladies and Gentlemen!
Today I'm writing a review about a rogue like RPG called Tales of Maj'Eyal!

A bit about the game and developers.
Tales of Maj'Eyal is a free open source roguelike RPG, made by just DarkGod. DarkGod is actually just one person! Well, two if we want to count the designer. So, ToME is made by a team of two people, and this game is absolutely free!

About Gameplay.
Tales of Maj'Eyal is a turn based roguelike RPG. In it you have option to chose one of many different races and classes. But at first you are very limited. You start off with just handful of races and classes. You then do main mission, side quests and explore so that you could find the other races and classes. Each class starts off in a different area, and I really like that. Makes every start a bit more unique.

This is a type of game which fits anyone's play style. You can either play it on easy and have unlimited number of lives, or you could play it on normal difficulty where you have five lives, and anything else that you pick up during your gameplay. And of course there's hardcore mode in which you lose as soon as you die once. In my opinion that's very awesome and challenging!

There are few maps in this game but I sadly managed to try just one. And that one is very big. On the map you can encounter a lot of different cities, dungeons and NPC's. Some NPC's will give you side quest and some will try to kill you. You can also see the other adventurer NPC's. They are friendly and don't have anything to do with you but it's fun to watch them run around. You can also visit every city and dungeon in this game. In fact it's very smart to do so, because it's much bigger chance to find other classes that way. This game really rewards you for exploring around and helping people, which I like a lot.

Combat system is turn based. Any long ranged attack such as fireballs or arrows need couple of turns to reach their target. If the target is fast enough they can actually move away from the danger which will cause it to miss. The player can, of course, do the same thing. I really have to say once again that this is a fully free to play, open source game. But you can always donate to the developers and get access to some classes and races that were only available to the donors. If you buy the game over steam you instantly get all the bonuses of the donors.

Graphic and Audio.
Graphically speaking the game looks like something old, but I actually didn't mind it. In fact, I liked it. It shows that gameplay should still be most important part of this game. Audio of this game is absolutely amazing, and I just loved listening to songs over and over again. In fact I even felt opening the game and then just listen the music in the background while I do other stuff.

Pros, cons and final grade.
Pros:
- A lot of different races and classes.
- Turn based game so it allows to think over your strategy before acting.
- Big map.
- Three life difficulties.
- A lot of different game difficulties.

Cons:
- Leveling sometimes takes a while.
- Sometimes it gets quite hard to kill enemies that are three to five levels higher than you.
- No co op or multiplayer.

Final grade: 8/10

Extra info: If you have never played a rogue like game before, I think this should be the first one! It's amazing and I loved every second of it. Absolutely amazing Free to play game.Wolfiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08198367491027121809noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3462554235446257534.post-82702838065478310642014-03-25T09:42:00.001+01:002014-03-25T09:42:17.210+01:00Game Preview: Planets³Hello Ladies and Gentlemen!
Today I will bring you a preview of one game that is currently on Kickstarter. I say preview because I can't review something that still didn't get out yet. So I can just preview the information about it, and then say my own opinion of it. The game I'm talking about is Planets³. And you read that as Planet Cube, not Planet Three.

Planets³ is a RolePlaying Voxel game. That makes the game unique! In this Multi-player voxel game you have the ability to advance by levels, discover new locations, build what ever you wish to, design your own weapons and even discover other Cubical planets! I mean, how cool is that?? Flying around the solar system from a planet to planet, finding people on it, building cities and maybe even making some Planet versus Planet wars! I have to say, for now I love the sound of that.

Players in this game have quests. Those quests allow them to level up, and to reveal the secrets of Planets Cube. There are also plenty of side quests which give you the opportunity to find rare items which can only be acquired over missions, more in depth story of the game and new locations which you maybe wouldn't have discovered on your own.

Crafting in Planets Cube is massive! You can literally build what ever you want, which even means you can
craft the weapons to look exactly how you want them to look. Do you want it to look like dragon tooth? Sure, no problem, do it! The same thing also goes with crafting vehicles for your journey over the vast universe. You can shape your vehicles to look exactly how you want them to look like. And I love that freedom.

This game really gives you the true form of freedom. IF you want to be a farmer, be a farmer. If you want to be a warrior, be a warrior. Make cities with other players or live on your own. Pact alliances with the kings or lords of other cities, while going into wars with other alliances. And if you put enough effort into it, who knows, maybe you'll even get to use guns and, who knows, spaceship battles!
The future of Planets Cube looks extremely promising. I mean, this is exactly the game that I have been
awaiting for years. I've seen many of them announced, but most of them got shut down. Or some are just much slower in progress. So Planets Cube is really giving me very high hopes. I think that Planets Cube is a perfect game to invest money into! And you can do so over their KickStarter page which can be found right here.Wolfiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08198367491027121809noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3462554235446257534.post-88087886573703943742014-03-24T23:40:00.002+01:002014-03-24T23:40:42.376+01:00Game Review: GnomoriaHello Ladies and Gentlemen!
First of all I want to say that I'm sorry for skipping one week of reviewing. I was very busy, and when I had time I just didn't feel like reviewing. So today I'm bringing you a review of a strategy game called Gnomoria!!

A bit about the game and developers.
Gnomoria has been developed and published by Robotronic Games. Most people who try Gnomoria out say that it's a simplified version of Dwarf Fortress. The last time I played Dwarf Fortress was about five years ago, and that did not end well, So I can't tell! What I can say is that Gnomoria is something much different from everything you've seen before!

About Gameplay.
Gnomoria is a strategy based sandbox game. But unlike other games, you don't make things happen instantly. In fact, you decide what you want to do and you place that object on the ground and then watch little gnomes ignore your orders and wishes, just because they think they don't need it for now. Everything in this game is done by the wish of your gnomes, and you have almost no influence over it. Now, this game is for those who have a lot of patience. I do consider myself to be a man with a lot of patience, but I also like to plan ahead. So I give my gnome 100 tasks before they manage to finish even the first one, and then I do nothing except stare at the screen for hours.

But don't think this game is boring! No, totally the opposite! While you are watching your Gnomes ignore your commands, you also have to make sure that they have food, water, that they don't get killed by goblins, or some other creatures. You also need to make sure that their animals are taken care of nicely, and that ambassadors from other cities feel nice and happy in your city when they come to visit you. After all, why would one town trade with your town if you got their ambassador killed?

The game has a lot of different things that you can do. There are a lot of items to make, a lot of different machines, work spaces, beds, and so on and on. The game even allows you to make your own houses! As in, it allows you to design a whole village how you see it fit. But the problem is that the game offers you so many different things to do, but it doesn't tell you what you need to make it. Luckily people are working very hard on the Wiki, so it's quite easy to find the needed information there.

Graphic and Audio.
Let's start off with audio this time! This game futures two different types of audios: 8 bit and Orchestral. Of course, Orchestral sounds much more beautiful, calm and makes you feel warm at heart, but the original, old 8 bit sounds just make you smile and make you feel happy. The songs are exactly the same in both 8 bit and Orchestral, so it's really down to personal preference. I liked 8 bit one more though! Now, graphically the game doesn't look like anything new. But I like it! It's small voxels with small 2D characters running around over your map. I found it interesting, and once you get used to it it actually becomes quite amazing!

Pros, cons and final grade.
Pros:
- Beautiful voxel based strategy game.
- Something very unique.
- Sandbox.

Cons:
- Not enough guides.
- Way too slow.

Final grade: 8.5/10

Extra info: I have to say I really enjoyed playing Gnomoria! Today I will be making a review of a story based game called The Walking Dead Season 2. As much as you could have realized, this game is a sequel to the original game called The Walking Dead.
A bit about the game and developers.
As I said at the start of this post, this game is a sequel to The Walking Dead. Just as the previous game, this is a point and click game in which you move around just a little bit, click on a thing or two and just watch the show. This game, just as previous one, was developed and published by Telltale Games. They are the same guys who made the previous game, and many other very well known games such as The Wolf Among Us.

About Gameplay.
Just like in the previous game, you don't do much in The Walking Dead Season 2. You walk around every now and then, click a button or two when the timing is crucial and search for hidden objects that you need to find. Also you have an option to talk to anyone from your group that is currently in your playable area. Telltale has changed the look of the game a little bit, and that makes me glad. Choices of your sentences are now spread in four boxes, in stead of being one under the other. This makes the game look much better, but it also makes it a bit harder to read through your choices. Luckily Telltale have thought of that too! They made the game give you a little bit more time to read through all of your choices and select what you would want to say if you were in that situation.

When you want to interact with certain objects or people a small circle will appear around it in which you can chose what you want to do. This makes the game look cleaner and, in my opinion, much better. They also added a new thing to the game which I don't remember in last one. They added button spamming and directions of your actions into the game. With that I mean that the game makes you hit Q rapidly during some scenes, or it makes you move to left, right, up or down in some scenes. If you fail to do that, or you press the wrong button, you die which is quite frustrating. Just like in the previous game, if you die you get set back quite a bit. You have to watch long scenes, long talks and maybe even re-make your choices from before. And if you die just before a new save, and the previous save was 20 minutes ago.. Well, you are going to have a very bad day.

The Walking Dead Season 2 is a game that focuses on Story more than gameplay. The game does it's best to connect you to the characters in it. The developers actually want you to live through the story, and that's what makes this game amazing. They are doing a great job about it! But I have to say, I have connected to the characters from the previous game more then with the new ones. Mainly because new characters are more selfish.. They are a small group of people who probably got betrayed before, and therefore they are judging you too much. Therefore I got quite happy once I was able to reconnect to a member of my previous group.

The game is still in early parts of the story, so there's only two out of five episodes out yet. There's a lot more story to be revealed, and I have to say that I can't wait to play through it.

Graphic and Audio.
The graphic is quite outdated, but they are doing that on purpose. This game focuses on being as close to comic books as possible, and that's what makes it different and awesome. Audio is very nice and never gets annoying. I really enjoyed both graphic and audio of the game.

Pros, cons and final grade.
Pros:
- Amazing story.
- Ability to chose your own "future".
- Surprising outcomes.

Cons:
- Sometimes your choice is a negative one, even thought you thought it would be positive.
- The game is still not full out and waiting for next episode is just too hard and too long, since the game is just too good.

Final Grade: 9/10
